SCAMTASTIC!

Yes, there is evil out there in plain site on every part of the beloved world wide web. And they are out to con, deceive and steal your hard earned earnings! They are looking for gullible people, often thee type that wear red head scarves around their heads as shown in the picture above. And it isn't even that they will try and steal your bank details or personal data, no, simply, sometimes the thing they will steal is that most precious commodity of all - your time!

We here at cash geeks are trying to make money without actually investing any real money of our own. This is our own mean mission. And we have to admit, that especially when we first started out, that we were taken for fools. Far too often than we are prepared to admit it.....although I think that we have just actually admitted it. So what are the signs to look out for on apps that all may not be as it seems......?

Here are five warning signs to watch out for when dealing with apps that promise rewards but might be up to no good:

The Phantom Payouts:

Scam Alert: You’ve been playing for hours, racking up points, but when it’s time to cash out, the app suddenly vanishes like a ninja in the night.

Warning Sign: If an app keeps pushing the payout date or has ridiculously high thresholds for withdrawals, proceed with caution. Legit apps pay promptly.

The Data Harvesters:

Scam Alert: You innocently grant permissions to track your app usage, and suddenly your inbox is flooded with spammy emails and your phone buzzes incessantly.

Warning Sign: Be wary if an app asks for excessive permissions. Why does a game need access to your contacts, location, and soul?

The In-App Purchase Pitfall:

Scam Alert: You’re having fun, levelling up, and then—bam!—the game demands real money for that shiny sword or magical potion.

Warning Sign: If an app aggressively pushes in-app purchases or forces you to spend real cash, it’s probably more “pay-to-play” than “play-to-win.”

The Cryptocurrency Mirage:

Scam Alert: The app promises Bitcoin rainbows and Ethereum unicorns. Just play a few games, and you’ll be swimming in digital gold!

Warning Sign: If an app insists on cryptocurrency deposits or offers unbelievable returns, it’s likely a crypto mirage.

The Ghost Developers:

Scam Alert: You try to contact support, but it’s like shouting into the void. No response, no help, just eerie silence.

Warning Sign: Check if the app has active customer support. If it’s a one-way communication street, run faster than a speed-hacked character.

Remember: Trust your instincts. If it feels too good to be true, it probably is. Stick to reputable apps, read reviews, and keep your digital wits about you! And having just read back our own article… there may be a couple of dodgy apps that I am using that I may need to review…….How embarrassing. But fear not! We here at cash geeks are out there trying these things to find the scammers before they find you. Watch as our site develops and our new “scammers” section appears….together we will beat them!
